The Catch Is On Fire This Week!
What a stellar week it's been for our Cocoa Beach fishing charters! The offshore waters of Port Canaveral have been absolutely teeming with activity, and our clients have been returning to the docks with impressive catches and even bigger smiles.

This past week, our captains have reported exceptional catches of kingfish, mahi-mahi (dolphin), and several varieties of snapper. The kingfish have been particularly aggressive, striking baits with remarkable enthusiasm in the 80-100 ft range. Many of our charters have been landing kings in the 15-30 pound class – perfect for both thrilling fights and delicious fillets!

What's Biting Offshore Right Now
May is truly one of the best times for Port Canaveral fishing charters, as we're experiencing that perfect seasonal transition when multiple species are actively feeding in our waters.

The kingfish and mackerel have been running strong along the reefs and drop-offs. Mahi-mahi (dolphin) fishing has been excellent, with many boats finding schools around floating debris and weed lines. Cobia continue making appearances around rays and structures. Blackfin tuna are starting to show up in deeper waters as the season progresses. For bottom fishing enthusiasts, snapper and grouper action has been consistent, with vermilion snapper and red grouper making up the majority of catches.

The clear water conditions (visibility around 30-40 feet) have made for perfect opportunities to spot those floating weed lines that often hold schools of hungry mahi. Several of our charters this week landed bull dolphin in the 25+ pound range – fish that not only provide an incredible fight but also plenty of delicious white meat for the table.

This transition period between spring and summer creates the perfect storm of fishing conditions off Cocoa Beach. Right now is the ideal time to book your charter with us because multiple species are active. Rather than targeting just one fish, our charters have been returning with diverse catches - something for everyone on board.

We're also enjoying comfortable weather conditions before the intense summer heat arrives, making for pleasant days on the water. The waters are less crowded as the summer tourist rush hasn't hit its peak yet, meaning more elbow room on the fishing grounds.

Perhaps most importantly, many species are in active feeding patterns, preparing for spawning or migration, which means aggressive strikes and memorable battles on the line.

Book Your Adventure Today!

Whether you're a seasoned angler looking for trophy fish or a family wanting a fun day on the water, our Cocoa Beach fishing charters are hitting the peak season right now.

Our fleet of well-equipped vessels and experienced captains are ready to put you on the fish. We provide all the necessary equipment, licenses, and expertise - you just bring your enthusiasm and a camera to document your catch!

Mid-Spring Offshore Action Heating Up Around Port Canaveral!

4/23/2025

This past week delivered exactly why anglers travel from across the country to fish our waters this time of year. The Cocoa Beach Sportfishing team ventured offshore where we connected with schools of mahi-mahi hovering around scattered weedlines and debris. The real highlight came when we located a school of yellowfin tuna feeding aggressively!

April through June represents prime time for our offshore waters as warming Gulf Stream currents push baitfish migrations closer to the Central Florida coastline. This seasonal phenomenon creates the perfect environment for pelagic predators including mahi, tuna, wahoo, and even billfish to follow.

The oceanographic conditions are currently ideal with clean blue water, defined temperature breaks, and consistent east winds helping form productive weedlines. These factors combine to create what's often our most productive offshore season of the year.

With the bite in full swing and optimal conditions expected to continue through May, now is the perfect time to book your offshore adventure. Our calendar is filling quickly with anglers looking to take advantage of this seasonal opportunity.

Contact Cocoa Beach Sportfishing today to reserve your dates and experience the offshore action that makes our Port Canaveral fishing grounds so legendary this time of year!

Kings on Fire: Mackerel Action Heats Up as Early Mahi Make Space Coast Appearance

3/30/2025

Picture
The offshore action has been heating up nicely along the Space Coast this week. Our recent trips out of Port Canaveral have shown a significant improvement in the king mackerel bite, with most productive action coming from depths of 60-90 feet. These smokers have been responding well to slow-trolled live baits, with several fish in the 30+ pound class making appearances.

What's particularly encouraging is the early arrival of some scattered mahi-mahi. While not yet in their peak summer numbers, we've been finding these colorful fighters around floating debris and weed lines approximately 15-20 miles offshore. Most fish are in the 10-15 pound range, though a few gaffers over 20 pounds have surprised anglers targeting kings.

Water temperatures have been holding steady around 74-76°F, and the clean blue water has been pushing in closer to shore with the recent easterly winds. Current patterns suggest we're on the verge of our traditional late spring pelagic run.

Now is the perfect time to experience the excellent offshore action with Cocoa Beach Sportfishing. Our experienced team specializes in putting clients on quality fish, with vessels fully equipped with top-of-the-line tackle and electronics.

Tight lines,

Planning an offshore fishing adventure along Florida's Space Coast? Cocoa Beach Sportfishing offers premier offshore fishing charters from Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, delivering world-class fishing experiences throughout the winter and spring seasons. Let's explore what makes this time of year special for offshore fishing charters in our waters.

Weather Patterns & Sea Conditions for Cape Canaveral Fishing Charters
When you book an offshore fishing charter from Cape Canaveral or Cocoa Beach during winter and early spring, you'll typically encounter stable weather patterns with periodic cold fronts. Our experienced charter captains carefully monitor these conditions, ensuring both safety and productive fishing. The best offshore charter trips usually happen 3-4 days after a front passes, when seas calm and fish become more active.

Bait Situation on Cocoa Beach Offshore Fishing Charters
During winter months, our Cape Canaveral fishing charters target concentrated bait schools. Large schools of ballyhoo frequent our nearshore waters, while Spanish sardines and blue runners gather around Port Canaveral. As spring approaches, our offshore fishing charters encounter more variety with the arrival of threadfin herring and cigar minnows. Our charter vessels are equipped with professional-grade live wells to maintain healthy bait throughout your trip.

Target Species on Your Cape Canaveral Fishing Charter
Winter through spring offers diverse opportunities for offshore fishing charters from Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral:

Wahoo: Prime targets for our winter offshore charters, especially around temperature breaks and full moons.

Blackfin Tuna: Winter through early spring provides excellent action for our charter clients.

Bottom Fishing: Winter concentrates grouper, snapper, and amberjack around offshore structure.

Sailfish: Peak season for our offshore charters during winter months.

Cobia: Spring brings these powerful fighters to our charter fishing grounds.

Mahi-Mahi: Though more common in warmer months, winter charters often find larger dolphins offshore.

What to Expect on Your Cocoa Beach Offshore Fishing Charter
Your adventure begins at Port Canaveral, where our professional charter crew prepares everything for a successful day offshore. After loading live bait, our Cape Canaveral fishing charters typically run 8-30 miles offshore, depending on conditions and target species. Our experienced charter captains use state-of-the-art electronics to locate productive fishing grounds.

Trip Planning for Your Cape Canaveral Charter
For the best offshore fishing charter experience, we recommend booking around stable weather patterns. Whether you're an experienced angler or new to offshore fishing, our Cocoa Beach charter captains provide the expertise to make your fishing adventure memorable.

Looking Ahead to Spring Offshore Charters
As waters warm, our Cape Canaveral fishing charters encounter expanding opportunities. Kingfish begin their migration, mahi-mahi action becomes more consistent, and cobia fishing peaks. King Mackerel and Bottom Fishing Heating Up Off Cape Canaveral

2/10/2025

The spring fishing pattern is emerging along Florida's Space Coast as warming temperatures transform our offshore waters. With cleaner, warmer water pushing in, we're seeing exciting developments for both pelagic and bottom species off Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach.

The king mackerel bite has been nothing short of spectacular this week. These high-speed predators are crushing slow-trolled live baits and drone-spoon spreads, with most fish in the 15-25 pound class. We're finding the best action in 60-90 feet of water, particularly around bait pods and temperature breaks. Multiple hookups have been common during the morning bite, providing non-stop action for our clients.

The bottom fishing continues to improve as water temperatures stabilize. Lane snapper have been particularly cooperative, with quality fish taking cut bait and squid around the 70-90 foot reefs and ledges. We're also picking up vermillion snapper, triggerfish, and the occasional grouper while working these productive areas.

The forecast for the coming weeks looks extremely promising. As we move deeper into February, we expect to see more consistent water temperatures and improved clarity, which typically brings in larger schools of bait and predators. This is traditionally when we start seeing some of our largest kingfish of the spring season.

Half-day trips are producing steady action, but full-day excursions give us the best opportunity to target both pelagic and bottom species. Morning trips have been most productive for kingfish, while the bottom bite remains consistent throughout the day.

Remember to book early as spring dates fill quickly when the bite is hot!
